Dr. Mandy Wong

MD, BMSc, FACPh

Dr. Mandy Wong is the medical director of the accredited non-hospital surgical centre in Restore Vein & Skin Centre. She obtained her degree as an MD from the University of Alberta in 1991 with honours in research, after publishing a scientific paper on treatment of malignant melanoma during medical school. She went on to become a general practitioner, moving to Kelowna in 1995.  Due to her continued interest in skin, she has guided her career to mirror her special interests.

Dr. Wong has focused her practice on the treatment of varicose veins and skin concerns for the last 15 years. Channelled by her interest in research and belief in evidence-based medicine, she continues to dedicate herself to continued education and training in order to maintain her status as an expert in her chosen fields of practice.

Dr. Wong is a Diplomate of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine, and of the American Board of Laser Medicine. She obtained her Diploma in Practical Dermatology from the University of Cardiff and a Masters in Medicine in the Field of Skin Cancer from the University of Queensland. She is on the board of directors of the Canadian Society of Phlebology and is a regular speaker at its national meetings.

Teaching is also a special interest of Dr. Wong. She is an associate clinical professor for UBC’s Southern Medical School where she is involved in teaching the dermatology rotation for medical students that come through the program. She is also a regular speaker for the BC College of Family Practitioners on the subject of skin diseases, in particular skin cancer and dermoscopy. Being recognized for her excellence in teaching and lecturing on skin disease, Dr. Wong has been invited to sit on the scientific board of the Primary Care Canadian Society of Dermatology, which represents primary care physicians in Canada with extra training in dermatology.

Dr. Wong is known for her passion in her areas of interest and her primary focus in providing great patient care, whether for medical or cosmetic concerns. She has been recognized as one of the top cosmetic physicians in the country, and has been invited to attend meetings on advanced cosmetic treatments for the last several years.
